Norfolk is the largest but least populated County in East Anglia, covering around 3,337 sq. miles / 5,371 sq. km., encompassing The Broads National Park, a unique part of England visited by thousands of visitors each year. Much of Norfolk's coastline is designated as An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the County contains 20 National and 10 Local Nature Reserves. Sandringham is the Norfolk country home of the Royal family and is open to the public during summer months. Norfolk Tourist Information is widely available throughout the County. Norfolk is a popular tourist destination; major attractions include beaches, the Broads, and the city of Norwich. The Queen's residence of Sandringham provides an all year round tourist attraction. The Broads is a network of mostly navigable rivers and lakes (known locally as broads) in the English counties of Norfolk and Suffolk. The Broads, and some surrounding land was constituted as a special area with a level of protection similar to a UK National Park by The Norfolk and Suffolk Broads Act of 1988. The Broads Authority, The total area is 303 km² (188 miles), most of which is in Norfolk, with over 200 km (125 miles) of navigable waterways. There are seven rivers and sixty three broads, mostly less than twelve feet deep. Thirteen broads are generally open to navigation, with a further three having navigable channels. Some broads have navigation restrictions imposed on them in autumn and winter.
